After it flowers, the foliage stays around. I like the giant blooms that really stand out. Tree peonies are amazing. #peony #treepeony This paperbark maple at the UK Arboretum has a grouping of sedges underneath. It makes a great ground cover and reduces the need for mulch. Many species stay semi evergreen in the winter. They also have a fuzzy looking texture and the color looks great against the bark of the maple. I think the arboretum could expand this section of sedges and mix in some other perennials! @ukarboretum #sedges #mapletree #nativeplantgardening #landscapedesign I took a visit back to this home where we worked last summer to install 7 different gardens and 36 trees in once was a bare landscape at this newly built home. It hasn’t even been a full year and plants are already gaining growth. The homeowners spoke about how many birds they see now.
