We began this project by first clearing out some old overgrown shrubs, removing an invasive tree, and then expanding the existing garden beds. We then installed a pathway leading from the front of the house to the air bnb. This pathway helped to define the new garden beds. An array of native shrubs and perennials were planted, including evergreens for winter interest, and lots of summer color at the client’s request. A small pollinator garden was added to hide the cover for the septic system.
This modern pergola was expanded mid-project to include a seperate area for the firepit and raised bed garden. There are future plans to extend the landscaping around the pergola for a more inclusive feel. The pergola was finished with some sun shades and string lights to extend the use of the space during the day and nighttime. The fire pit is ready for entertaining and feeding guests with its swinging grill grate add on and teak furniture.
