We finally received our Monarch Waystation sign along with a few others. It is now being displayed in the front yard. We really hope this will explain to people why this garden is here. Actually as I was putting the sign up, a lady asked if I was doing experiments because of the plant labels I had made. I am always amazed at what conclusions people come to.
Making this yard into a Monarch Waystation took help from a lot of people, from my boyfriend who helped me create the garden, and the contributors to the Indiegogo Project to raise funds for its installation. These contributors helped us purchase materials, plants, and these certifications right here on these signs.
Once you have developed the right habitat, it’s quite easy to have your garden certified as a Monarch Waystation through Monarch Watch, A Certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation, or a Certified Butterfly Garden through the North American Butterfly Association. Each one costs between $40-$50 to certify it and receive a sign. Simply visit these sites to see what types of requirements you must have in order to become certified. It is possible for even someone living in an apartment with a balcony to become certified, especially with the National Wildlife Federation.
We want to thank the following people for their contribution on Indiegogo, in no particular order.
